Valley below Tarren Bwlch-gwyn
Valley below Tarren Bwlch-gwyn
Tarren Bwlch-gwyn is part of the northern edge of the Plynlimon massif in the wider sense, the land below belonging to the wide glacial valley of the Dyfi SN6797 : Afon Dyfi (River Dovey). Several streams cascade down the edge, including Rhaeadr Ddu(in the gap between the foreground and the hill on the left hand side in the picture) and nearby Rhaeadr Wen ("black" and "white waterfall", respectively). The topography of the square is dominated by the edge, with high moorland along the south (Tarren Bwlch-gwyn) and east (Tarren Gesail) and the grassy valley about 300m below in the NW corner and centre.
