For ground shot see TF4587 : Gayton Engine Pumping Station.
Grade II listed pumping station, built in 1850 to pump water from Gayton Fen and Gayton Marsh in to the River Eau, originally by steam power, replaced with a diesel engine in 1945. It was superseded by a new electric pumping station in 1956 though thankfully survives in working order, maintained by The Gayton Engine Preservation Society who regularly open to the public - see LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
