Giant Hogweed
Giant Hogweed
Heracleum mantegazzianum, a spectacular and invasive alien from the Caucasus, with stems up to 3.5 m high that produce thousands of seeds, which spread easily, especially along river banks. A menace that should be controlled - not only does it swamp natural vegetation, but the oils contained in the stems [tempting pea shooter material] react with sunlight to cause blistering of skin.
