Riccarton Junction sign
Riccarton Junction was a railway village and station on the former North British Railway Edinburgh to Carlisle line known as the Waverley Route. When the Waverley Line was closed in 1969 many of the buildings on the site had been demolished. A voluntary organisation, Friends of Riccarton Junction, was constituted in 1997 with the aim of restoring as much as possible of the station, and it was this group who erected the sign.
