1 Castle Hill, Lancaster
Dated 1770. Built as the warehouse (see right), workshop and offices of furniture makers Gillows, quite probably to the design of Richard Gillow himself ('Gillow & Co' is inscribed above the door). Grade II listed.
In front is the Covell Cross (SD4761 : The Judges' Lodgings Town House 15 Castle Hill Lancaster).
SD4761 : Brock Street, Lancaster The Pub is called 'The Penny Bank' and was the former Nat West Bank. Wall of Ale relates to a Beer festival I think which I unfortunately missed.
