William Rae Wilson mausoleum
William Rae Wilson mausoleum
Wilson, was born in Paisley and practised as a solicitor. He later travelled in the Middle East and wrote books about these travels. When he died, his wife had this domed octagonal Moorish kiosk built in the style of sepulchre monuments from his beloved Palestine. No wood, iron or lead has been used in its construction. All joints are expertly consealed.
To have seen something so wonderful was a great surprise. To see the coke bottles and crisp packets stuffed inside the mausoleum makes a statement about something else I feel.
