Shillingford Bridge, River Thames
Shillingford Bridge, River Thames
As seen from the north. There was an early bridge here about 1300, but this did not last very long. A timber bridge with stone abutments was, however, opened in c.1785. The present bridge replaced this in 1827 and was a toll bridge until 1883.
The bridge carries an important local road running northwards from Wallingford.
