The church of St Peter in Mundham
The church of St Peter in Mundham
St Peter's church > Link is located on an elevation just south of Brooke Road. The building dates mainly from the 14th century but the south door sheltered by the porch is framed by a magnificent Norman arch > Link. The interior contains several medieval survivals such as the C15 rood screen, albeit stripped of all its original colour > Link. Attached to it is an hour glass stand > Link. A C15 piscina > Link with ogee hood moulds and carved faces of children can be seen in the chancel. It still has the original wooden credence shelf. A mural depicting St Christopher, opposite the south doorway, is partially covered by a 19th century wall monument. Beside the modern font underneath the tower there are the remains of a Norman font made of Purbeck marble. A brick-faced wafer oven > Link can be seen beside the font in its original position in the south wall of the tower.
