Donna Nook Bombing Range :: TA4200

Initially used from 1927, the bombing range included 7 miles of foreshore south of Donna Nook Beacon and out to sea to a range of 8000 yards.
The resident wildlife fare surprisingly well, and seem to have become accustomed to aircraft bombing near them on a regular basis.
One particular group is the Grey Seal population, which is visited by around 43,000 people a year (2006), and the seals return to breed during October to December every year.
Donna Nook closed in 1945 but reopened as a NATO bombing range and is still in regular use. It had also served as a prisoner of war camp. It is now known as the Donna Nook / East Coast bombing range.
