Ault Hucknall, Nr Glapwell, Derbyshire
The less well-known north elevation/s of this Grade I-listed church that is dedicated to St John the Baptist. Different parts of it were constructed in C11th, C14th, and the C15th prior to its restoration during 1885-8 by William Butterfield. Since Thomas Hobbes is buried here, the church apparently attracts visitors from across the globe. Immediately behind the photographer and beyond the graveyard wall, the land slopes away quite dramatically towards Glapwell. Apart from Home Farm's farmhouse, there are only two other houses in this hamlet. There is no Anglican Church in nearby Glapwell, that is 5-10 mins away by car.
