Originally designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown, the Upper or Carp Lake (left) is one of three interconnecting lakes linked by a spring-fed stream; it was dredged in 1996 and about 5,000 carp were introduced; the Chinese Bridge separates it from a lower lake (right).
