Monument to the other Thomas Hardy
Monument to the other Thomas Hardy
While Dorset is famous for its connection with the novelist, Thomas Hardy, this monument commemorates Vice-Admiral Sir Thomas Masterman Hardy, who was by Nelson's side on his death in 1805 at the Battle of Trafalgar.

Coincidentally, Hardy the novelist could see the tower from his birthplace at Bockhampton (SY7292 : Hardy’s cottage, Higher Bockhampton).
