Saint Wilfrid's Church; Alford, Lincs
The oldest building in Alford is the mid 13th century St. Wilfrids Church , which was built on the site of a smaller one. Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, now on Station Road, started in a room above the church porch.
The restoration of the 17th century almshouses in West Street and large scale improvements to St. Wilfrid's Church were carried out by the eminent architect, Sir Gilbert Scott.(who also designed St. Pancras Station and the Albert Memorial.)
