NC1730 : Promontory Ditch

taken 10 years ago, 4 km from Nedd, Highland, Great Britain

Promontory Ditch
Promontory Ditch
The remains of a ditch and turf dyke cross this promontory (in the foreground) at Loch an Leothaid. There are stone dykes where it reaches the loch at each end and there is a central gateway.
This was probably used as an enclosure for holding cattle in the days when transhumance was practised.
