Forestry above the Afon Mynach
Forestry above the Afon Mynach
This is the first bit of forestry encountered on this bank of the Mynach; at the time the photograph was taken it was in the process of being felled, this end having already been cleared. Taken from the good public footpath, which from the bracken covered hillside is about to enter a short patch of heather before entering the forest. At one time the Manchester & Milford railway planned a route up this valley, to a tunnel at its head which connected with the Gwy (Wye) valley; some borings for the tunnel were made but the line never built.
