Delapré Abbey, Northampton
Delapré Abbey, Northampton
Delapré Abbey, or more correctly The Abbey of St Mary de la Pré (i.e. the Abbey of St Mary in the Meadow), is a country house and former monastery situated off the A506 in the meadows of the River Nene to the south of Northampton. On the other side of the stone wall are some permanently open ornamental gardens at the rear of the main house, whilst on the right, on the other side of the farm gate ahead, is a disused Victorian farmyard. Ransom Road runs close to this former farm track, 2 minutes walk away behind this derelict wooden shelter, although it is inaccessible to the walkers from this public path.
