Delapré Abbey, Northampton
Delapré Abbey, Northampton
Various members of the Tate family owned The Abbey of St Mary de la Pré (i.e. the Abbey of St Mary in the Meadow) between 1546-1764, during which time they reconstructed and adapted the nunnery buildings to form this house, "probably on the foundations of the original monastic buildings". In 1764 the house and estate was sold to the Bouverie family. This is a view, through an observation window in a security fence, provides evidence of the on-going restoration work ("2014-May 2017").
