SY2288 : The beach at Beer

taken 11 months ago, near to Beer, Devon, Great Britain

The beach at Beer
The beach at Beer
Beer has no harbour and the fishing boats are launched from the steeply shelving pebble beach. Because the beach is protected from the prevailing westerly winds by Beer Head, (beyond the headland here) and the chalk cliffs, which are the furthest outcrop of limestone on the southwest coast, the fishermen can operate in stormy weather when fishing fleets in other towns and villages cannot.
