The Highland Railway
The Highland Railway
A deep cutting where the railway climbs out of Grantown. This was the original route to Inverness, but locomotive technology improved and it became possible to climb the Slochd and Drumossie Muir from Inverness, and a more direct line was built. This became a branch which closed in the 1960s. Now a footpath linking Forres and Grantown.
