The Black Friar, Queen Victoria Street, London
The Black Friar, Queen Victoria Street, London
The Black Friar has stood here since about 1905, and appears to be receiving a little TLC. It is good to see this Art Nouveau pub has survived among so much modernity. On comparing this photograph with TQ3180 : The Black Friar of 1979, the observant will notice there has been a lowering of the level of the railway since then: this is because it now passes underneath Ludgate Hill rather than over it as previously.
