TQ2958 : Water tower, Coulsdon

taken 7 years ago, near to Coulsdon, Croydon, England

Water tower, Coulsdon
Water tower, Coulsdon
All that remains of this once vast psychiatric hospital, which opened in the 1880s and was mostly closed by the early 1990s, is the water tower, a fragment of the administration block, and the chapel (TQ2958 : Former Cane Hill Hospital, Coulsdon). It has not fared well in comparison with some other examples of the type. A serious fire in 2010 compounded the large-scale clearance for a Barratt's housing development.
