A nearby information board claims that this standing stone marks the spot where five Cornish parishes meet (St Martin-in-Meneage, Mawgan-in-Meneage, Grade-Ruan, Cury, St Keverne). The boundaries must have been re-drawn slightly, as it now stands solely within St Martin-in-Meneage, with three three-parish vertices in the neighbourhood. It was re-erected in 1928, without its top three feet which had been removed by soldiers earlier in the century for road-building purposes. The stone is believed to have originally been transported here in the early bronze age from nearby Crousa Downs.
