One rock, near the centre of the picture, has been eroded or undercut in such a way as to give it a mushroom-like shape.
The Finland Burn itself was known by various different names in centuries past: see
NS4481 : The Finland Burn at Red Brae.
(Other details not captured by the photograph: on the day I took this picture, I followed an
NS4381 : Old boundary; the day was hazy, increasingly so as time went on. On the whole, there was little sound, but, when I was in the area from which the present picture was taken, I could, despite the intervening high ground, hear some shouts and strange noises coming from about a mile to the south-east: these were not calls for help, but, rather, the sounds of someone listening for an echo; this went on for some time. See
NS4579 : Valley of the Knockupple Burn.)
