One of a group of three or more probable burial cairns on Howden Hill. Another is shown here NY8369 : Bronze Age round cairn above Settlingstones Burn. Most of the stones are hidden under turf.

The cairn is described in the scheduling document (1008421) as:
"... the remains of a round cairn of Bronze Age date, situated on the northern edge of steep slopes above the Settlingstones Burn. The cairn, of earth and stone, measures 10m in diameter and stands to a maximum height of 1m."
