NY8369 : Cist, Howden Hill
taken 1 year ago, 5 km from Newbrough, Northumberland, Great Britain

Cist, Howden Hill
A possible Bronze Age burial cist located close to the sheepfold on Howden Hill. It is deeply cut, uncovered, and lined with huge stone slabs. Does the fact that it has remained unfilled by vegetation and soil mean that it had some later agricultural use? There is a setting of large stones nearby NY8369 : Cairn and sheepfold on Howden Hill as well as a group of Bronze Age round cairns and two cup-marked boulders.
