Shallow bank east of sheepfold, Howden Hill
Shallow bank east of sheepfold, Howden Hill, taken 2 months ago
The low winter sun picks out a shallow, linear earth-bank just east of the sheepfold on Howden Hill. There are two Bronze Age round cairns over to the left and another in the centre, almost in line with the bank, above the deep valley of Settlingstones Burn. Brown Moor extends to the far skyline and the trees of Twin Woods, the site of Roman camps at Brown Dikes.
