Display number 15 is a Tipton Clump Anchor, circa 1940. Stored on shore and used for emergency mooring. Designed to sit on the sea bed and relies on sheer weight to resist movement.

A display of 20 pieces of mooring gear, loaned to the community of Fairlie and Largs by Fairlie NATO Base, can be seen at the coastal path between Largs Yacht Haven and Fairlie.

An information board at the Marina car park informs that the anchors are of European and American design, dating from the 1800s to the present day.

Each item is accompanied by an information panel which gives a brief description of what is on display.
