The line of this boundary is marked on present-day maps, as on the first-edition OS map (c.1860).
It used to extend farther: it is no coincidence that the wall passing NE–SW through
NS41507934 and
NS41187897 follows the same line, although there are gaps between that wall and the one shown in the present picture.
Likewise, the boundary used to extend in the opposite direction past the top of Pappert Hill and as far as
NS4380 : The Common Kist (or, more precisely, to a point just a few metres to the NNW of the Common Kist). It is shown in complete form on estate plans from 1801 and 1826 (see
Link for comments).
Even by the time the first-edition OS map was surveyed in 1860, there were gaps: sections of the earlier complete boundary were marked "Und" (undefined), others "C.W." (course of wall), "Tk.W." (track of wall), or even "Piles of Stones". For that section, see
NS4280 : Line of an old boundary.
For the same wall as in the present picture, but viewed from about 70 metres to the north-east, see
NS4179 : Dry-stone wall in the woods.
