West Runton beach is the location of the famous "West Runton Elephant" find. A great variety of fossils can be foud here. From the West Runton Fresh Water Bed, mammal and fish remains are common, along with freshwater shells, and during scouring tides, the chalk deposits on the foreshore yield echinoids, belemnites and sponges.
