SP3176 : Canley Brook

Canley Brook
Canley Brook
A short length of concrete track leads into and across the brook and there appears to be the remains of a bricked arch on the near bank. There are no other signs of a built track leading to this point. Old 1:25,000 Ordnance Survey maps (surveyed between 1938-1950) show a track (or road under construction) leading from Cannon Hill Road, at a point where Hilary Road now joins, to the A45 a few metres west of the Cannon Park Road junction. Its crossing point fits with the location of this photo. Older 6in maps do not show an established route in this location. The stream bed has been straightened since the 1950s.
