SO6378 : Catherton Common

taken 13 years ago, near to Silvington, Shropshire, Great Britain

Catherton Common.
Catherton Common.
House in a small enclosure in the midst of one of the largest surviving heathlands in Shropshire. The 1940s map shows signs of industrial activity here, either quarrying of opencast coal mining. The slopes of Clee Hill still contain large reserves of coal and the open cast companies sniff round occasionally.
