Elmers Mill Ruin
Elmers Mill Ruin
Elmers Mill stands on high ground in the east of the square. It was a smock mill built in 1803 for a Mr. Harrison of Harley Street, London by Thomas Coldman at a cost of £735 5s 9¼d. She ceased working in 1912 and lay derelict until the wooden smock collapsed without warning in 1944, leaving only this brick base. The owner hopes to rebuild the mill as a private dwelling.
