SE6990 : Douthwaite Dale

taken 7 years ago, near to Gillamoor, North Yorkshire, England

Douthwaite Dale
Douthwaite Dale
The title refers to the large residence in the lower half of the photo. It stands at the top end of the dale of the same name, the River Dove flowing past the grounds. The Dove flows out of Farndale, a popular and much visited valley in the moors, but below Lowna the valley narrows as it carves its way through the limestone of the Tabular Hills and relatively few people explore this part.
