Old wharf on Holehaven Creek
This was for Westwick rubbish shoot, operated by R.G. Odell Ltd from 1936 to 1972. This was evidently on a smaller scale than many other such operations on the Essex marshes, although it had a locomotive operated 2 ft (610 mm) gauge railway to distribute the rubbish barged down from London. Thames dredgings were also deposited. The raised ground created is now scrubbed over.
