taken 11 years ago, near to Esher, Surrey, England

The Rock (Well)
The Rock (Well)
The Rock is an old well on the Portsmouth Rd that has been converted into a grotto type streetside bench. The well has been filled in.This well was once known asTraveller's Rest and also as Wolsey's Well (Cardinal Wolsey had a palace at Esher) and there is an engraving of it in the British Museum. The engraving shows a similar structure to this but with arches at the side as well as at the front. It has been moved and altered over the years. See LinkExternal link
