The Long Man on Wilmington Hill
The Long Man on Wilmington Hill
The Long Man is a chalk-cut figure on Wilmnington Hill about half a mile / 1km south of the village of Wilmington. Its date is entirely uncertain; possibly prehistoric in origin it has been re-cut or "restored" on a number of occasions - see LinkExternal link for more information. Certainly there has been something here for at least a couple of thousand years, as several Roman fragments have been found.

This hill figure was thought to be pre-historic, but it is now suggested that it is 16th or 17th century in age.
