Fort Albert, Freshwater
Fort Albert, Freshwater
This is a 19C fort built to defend the western approach to Portsmouth (see LinkExternal link ). It was being converted to flats when this photograph was taken. The slope on the right has notices saying Keep Off - Danger - Slipper Clay (I can't remember the exact words) but in dry weather there was no problem. At the top one has to go through a holiday park, with Private No Entry signs at the other end!
