NY8837 : Rough hill road rising towards Thatch Mires

taken 7 years ago, near to St John's Chapel, County Durham, England

Rough hill road rising towards Thatch Mires
Rough hill road rising towards Thatch Mires
The walled road climbs from the Wear valley at St. John's Chapel, starting as a steep but well-surfaced, (stone chippings), route. After the initial steepness the road surface deteriorates into the rough affair seen in the image. The onward way towards the isolated house, Thatch Mires, has a further problem before reaching there - a flood across the road's width.
