Welsh poppy (Meconopsis cambrica)
Welsh poppy (Meconopsis cambrica)
This plant is a member of the poppy family Papaveraceae, with yellow to orange flowers. It is endemic to upland areas of Western Europe but since it has been widely naturalised it can also be found in many areas outside its native range. The Welsh political party Plaid Cymru has adopted a stylised image of the plant as its party logo.
