War Department boundary stone near Scarborough Castle
War Department boundary stone near Scarborough Castle
This weathered boundary stone is alongside Castle Road and next to a gateway to 'The Towers'. The stone, and several others are shown on the 1852 Ordnance Survey map, and pre-date 'The Towers', the boundary wall of which follows the earlier boundary line across 'The Holms' and down to the coastline on the North Bay. The area above the stone is steep and very overgrown, so I haven't been able to establish whether any of the other stones still exist.
