The Causeway, Steventon
The Causeway, an earth bank with a cobbled pathway, may have been built by 14th century Benedictine monks of a Rouen priory which owned the manor. It extends the length of the large village green and beyond, from the far east end to the church, with steps down for roadways. For most of the way it is lined with limes and other trees offering amenity with utility. This is the view east-north-east towards the junction with the main north-south road as it emerges from the High Street.
