SY9876 : Working face, Seacombe Quarry

taken 5 years ago, near to Worth Matravers, Dorset, Great Britain

Working face, Seacombe Quarry
Working face, Seacombe Quarry
The stone of principal interest for building was just above the quarry floor. To save effort, it was won by extracting it from under the upper strata, so forming caves. Here, these have mostly been obscured by rock falls and probably by dumping waste stone in front of the face.
