NT1560 : Geese above the Pentlands

taken 13 years ago, 4 km from Nine Mile Burn, Midlothian, Great Britain

Geese above the Pentlands.
Geese above the Pentlands.
Its well into autumn now, and this is a familiar sight (and sound.) Geese flying from their roost to a feeding ground. While walking over the moors this morning hundreds flew overhead. The v formation saves energy, the trailing bird gaining from wingtip turbulence from the goose in front. Like a cycling team they constantly change the one in front, at the apex.
