Hockley Viaduct spans River Itchen
Hockley Viaduct spans River Itchen
Looking SE from water meadows. The viaduct is 40 ft high with arch spans of 30 ft except for the one over the river which is 50 ft. The pillars are of concrete with a brick skin. The modern bridge glimpsed through the main arch carries the M3. The tree partly blocking the main span has only recently fallen. This photo is taken from the river bank at the righthand edge of Dave Jacob's photo.
