SN8355 : Irfon valley from the Devil's Staircase

taken 7 years ago, 3 km from Abergwesyn, Powys, Wales

Irfon valley from the Devil's Staircase
Irfon valley from the Devil's Staircase
Heading east on the Tregaron to Abergwesyn road, there is a steep climb out of the Towy valley, followed quickly by a steep winding descent into the valley of the Irfon, the course of which is eastwards to join the Wye at Builth Wells, whilst the Towy heads south west towards Carmarthen and the sea.
The Irfon flows down a splendid 'U' shaped valley of the sort that once might have graced my 'O' level geography text book with a black and white photograph.
