Southway is a large suburban housing estate in north-west Plymouth. The name is believed to have derived from the route into Plymouth often used by Buckland Abbey monks, which was known as the "South Way".
Most of the houses were built between 1954 and 1968 as part of the post war redevelopment of plymouth.
