Half Fathom Sculpture, South Quay, King's Lynn
Andrew Schumann 2000. 6.2m high by 41cm dia. Bronze and stainless steel column on a Blue Clipsham limestone base. It is surmounted by a solar powered LED light which flashes at night. The height of the column represents the distance between high and low tides with the divisions representing stages of rise and fall. The ripples suggest the surface movements on the River Great Ouse while the flashing light on top recalls blinking warning buoys afloat on the Wash.
