Hoo Junction
Hoo Junction
The line from Gravesend to Strood, which passes to the left here, opened in 1845 and still has a regular service, including Javelins on their way to and from St Pancras International. Passenger trains also ran on the line which branches off to the left here between 1882 to 1961. The single line branch is still in use by regular container trains to and from Thamesport on the Isle of Grain, as well as Grain and Brett's Aggregates near Cliffe.

Hoo Junction, where the two lines diverge can be just ahead. The yard marshals wagon traffic on the main line and from the branch. The majority of traffic consists of aggregate wagons, also with steel strip carriers, infrastructure units and ballast trains. On the extreme left of the photograph is Hoo Junction Staff Halt which opened in 1956. The halt no longer has any scheduled services and seems to have gone out of use from some date between 1998 and 2002.

The view is from the foot crossing which continues from Queen's Farm Road across the line to Shorne Marshes.
