Northwest entrance to Gaer Hill Fort
Northwest entrance to Gaer Hill Fort
Pedestrian entrance from Bassaleg Road to the hillside below the remains of the ancient fort. The locked gates are in a worse condition than in 2011 ST2886 : Entrance to Gaer Fort, Newport. The kissing gate is on the Sirhowy Valley Walk.
Sirhowy Valley Walk
A 26 mile walk in the west of the former county of Gwent from the Aneurin Bevan Memorial, Tredegar to Tredegar House, Newport. The route follows the ridgeways and valley floors through three counties, mainly off road and never far from the Sirhowy or Ebbw Rivers or the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal (Crumlin Arm).
