A view of the airshaft on Totley Moss
This late Victorian airshaft ventilates the Totley Tunnel which connects Totley in the south western suburbs of Sheffield with Grindleford in Derbyshire. As I tarried by the airshaft I heard a train passing far below. The 3.5 mile long tunnel opened in 1893 and took five years to construct.
